A person should drink only that much water which his health says to. Yes. Drinking more than that or less than that will effect differently on the body.

Let's say a person does hard physical work, he becomes thirsty more than a person who just sits without doing any physical work. So definitely the person drinks more water because the water in the body is being used.

If the person who just sits and drinks so much water it will be stored as excess in the body which may be in the form of fats.

I would say be connected with the body not with persons who say how much you should drink.
